ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
TERESA RILEY is a writer/producer/director/actor and also a commercial airline pilot (and an accomplished recording artist) who loves writing about her life experiences. Her accounts of the female experience as a pilot in the Aviation world are based on true events either she, or another female pilot experienced. FLY GIRL is a rare look into the high flying ups and downs that are unique to a very small percent of the population: yet all women will be able to relate to the systemic roadblocks our heroine faces. Teresa started flying Cessnas, then earned her commercial/multi-engine/IFR and Instructor ratings. She was a flight instructor for almost 3 years, then flew cargo planes up through Northern BC and Yellowknife, and eventually ended up at Air Canada where she flew DC9’s, Airbus 340, Boeing 737,767, 777, and 787s. Teresa is from Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Why This Film
Flygirl is unique and original. Never has a film been made about a female pilot’s journey from first flight test to Captain on a jumbo jet at a major airline. As a real female airline pilot, the writer; Teresa, found people were so curious about her life. “How did you become a pilot?”, “How many female pilots are there?”, “Is it scary?”, “Are you a lesbian?”…the questions came and came. People wanted to know, and it is so difficult to describe. This film is also universally appealing, exciting, and charming, and has a lot of heart which deems it quite commercially viable. Think Thelma and Louise meets Jerry McGuire but with airplanes!
Why Now
It seems women (in Aviation and in general) have taken one step forward and two steps back…Highly publicized incidents unfairly blaming the “female pilot” have put women’s capabilities in the forefront of the media lately, painting a negative and undeserved picture and stigma. With the DEI controversies happening, this movie is as relevant as ever, maybe more so than ever. Women’s stories, especially real stories, need to be told! Women are smart, capable and willing to do great work, and the world will be better for it when illogical discrimination is broken down, and we are seen as just people with something valuable to contribute to society other than just procreation. A fun, intelligent, no BS action packed film with a fiery, witty heroine is just what the world needs today!
